The Strengthening the Mid-Atlantic Region for Tomorrow (SMART) NJ Committee is pleased to announce Congressman Rob Andrews Tech Fair 2002 will take place on Monday, September 9, 2002 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Tech Fair will provide a venue for high technology companies, academia and government agencies located in or near New Jersey's 1st Congressional District to network and display their products and services. The event will also provide the Congressman the opportunity to address the area's collective technical community and tour the displays.

This event is being hosted by L-3 Communications' at their campus on the Camden Waterfront. If you would like to attend, the L-3 Communications' campus is located at 1 Federal Street between 3rd and Delaware Avenue on the Camden Waterfront. Their website, www.L-3Com.com/cs-east, contains detailed directions. Attendance is free. US citizens with photo identification are invited. Please enter through the main lobby behind the flagpole. Parking signs will be posted as you enter their lot.

The Patuxent Partnership And Naval Air Systems Command's Fifth Annual
Business Development Symposium

With a theme of Technologies for the Warfighter and Industry, the fifth annual business development symposium will feature more than 60 NAVAIR and industry exhibits. Under Secretary of Commerce for Technology Phillip Bond and NAVAIR Vice Commander Rear Adm. Bert Johnston will begin the formal presentations at 1 p.m. on March 18. Exhibits will open at 12:30 p.m. Additional speakers on the first day include Representatives Steny Hoyer and Curt Weldon, who will give an update on their respective regional initiatives. The DOD perspective will be offered by Cynthia Gonsalves, OSD(DDR&E) Office of Technology Transition, and a representative from the Office of Naval Research. A reception follows at 5 p.m. on the exhibit floor.

The second day features presentations on state and local technology transition initiatives and a success stories panel. After lunch, attendees may choose to attend three of the following workshops: small business innovation research, partnering agreements, advanced concept technology demonstration, NAVAIR technology commercialization initiatives, independent research and development, preparing product for the foreign market, and financing business initiatives.

Bus transportation will be provided for NAVAIR personnel from Patuxent River and Webster Field to the conference facility throughout both days. A schedule will be posted soon.

The cost of a complete symposium package, including workshops, the reception on March 18, and continental breakfast and lunch on March 19, is $90. Admission to the exhibit area is free; the reception will cost $25. Training credit is available for federal employees; signup sheets will be at the registration desk.
